DARCY BURNER RUNNING FOR 1ST CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT SEAT; VOWS TO PROTECT SOCIAL SECURITY AND MEDICARE
This morning, Darcy Burner filed to represent the people of Washington’s 1st Congressional District. She will be running to fill the seat formerly held by future Governor Jay Inslee, and to continue to serve under a reclaimed Democratic majority in January 2013.
“Speaker Boehner has made clear threats to slash Social Security and Medicare benefits after the election. Social Security and Medicare are paid for and earned by working Americans,” Burner said. “They belong to the people who have worked hard and paid into the programs, not to Speaker Boehner and his caucus of bullies in Washington D.C. Cutting Social Security and Medicare would hurt middle class Americans who have paid into them their entire working lives, and violates the guaranteed promise made to all Americans. I will fight tooth and nail to make sure Congress keeps its hands off of Social Security and Medicare.”
For both elections, primary election ballots must be mailed in by August 7th and general election ballots are due November 6th.
